POD and JIT services for 1.5 million keyboards in Europe
Agility Hungary is one of the largest and most established print-on-demand (POD) operators in Europe with an annual capacity of 1.5 million keyboards per year. Agility provides extensive POD services to the world’s largest electronics contract manufacturers in addition to just-in-time (JIT) warehousing services for personal computer keyboards. Agility transports blank keyboards via ocean freight from Taiwan and China to its warehouses in Hungary. Agility then uses advanced laser etching and tampo printing technology at its two POD facilities to print the keyboards in the required languages before delivering the orders. The scale and proximity of the POD facilities to the customer’s assembly lines allows the company to reap the benefits of technology and operational efficiency.
Using a GIT-C to optimize electronics cargo packing in Asia
Agility partnered with a global telecommunications provider to create a Goods in Transit Center (GIT-C) that reduces air cargo weight, transport costs and carbon emissions on shipments originating in mainland China and Hong Kong, destined to India. Agility packs consumer electronics cargo more densely on air pallets to reduce volumes and improve efficiencies in the use of aircraft. This reduces packaging, pallets and dead space on planes. Agility achieved this by modifying its web-based tracking system to get a clear view of the customer’s shipping schedule and inventory. The system displays the physical makeup of customer consignments, including weight, size, and handling requirements. Dedicated teams and facilities manage operations to optimize packing, reducing 6 percent or more of cargo weight and CO2 emissions – which translates to the customer’s bottom line.
Managing closed-loop logistics for 3,000 annual shipments of consumer electronics
Agility works with a leading global hard drive manufacturer to manage its end-to-end supply chain, including reverse logistics of returned or used items. Agility’s closed-loop system offers a sustainable edge by ensuring that 3,000 annual shipments of 3 million kilograms of products are recycled or returned to the consumer market. When returned faulty products are repaired, Agility recycles the original packaging, repacks the products and returns them to the vendor.
